Welcome to the site of the Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band. The band has been a major feature in the community since it was formed in 1975. The main focus of the band is, as a social group, concentrating on enjoying our music, our social engagements and performing at Social, Formal and Corporate events. These range from Gala and Agricultural days, Weddings, Exhibitions and even International Music Festivals. The band is currently enjoying a fruitful partnership with Forth Valley College and committed to offering tuition opportunities to those willing to learn to play both the bagpipes and drums. This learning opportunity is afforded to individuals of all ages with an interest in traditional pipe band music. The band is proud of its strong friendship with "The Dutch Pipes and Drums of Tilburg" and has, over many years been an ambassador for Clackmannanshire and Scotland in Europe and America. HRH Queen Elizabeth Presents Jim Weir with MBE Our chairman along time member of the Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band (ABPB) and former Forth Valley College lecturer Jim Weir travelled to Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh recently to keep a Royal Appointment. Her Majesty the Queen officially presented Jim with his MBE for Services to Further Education in Clackmannanshire, on Tuesday July 13th August. Jim, accompanied with is wife Marion, can be seen on the image on the right proudly displaying his MBE.
Jim said: “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever meet the Queen! It was a fabulous day, absolutely magical. “It was a double celebration as on that day it was the 48th anniversary of the day that I actually met my wife Marion. So it was great that I was there with my family to celebrate by having a few glasses of champagne.”
